Courses
Bluedata offers ESL Instruction in six levels, as well as preparation courses for the TOEFL, GRE and GMAT exams. Below are descriptions and entrance requirements for all courses offered at Bluedata:
ESL (Level 1) 200 Hours (20 hours/week)
*Entrance Requirements: BEST PLUS oral score 0-54, BEST Literacy score 0-7.
Upon completion of ESL Level 1, the student will be familiar and comfortable with basic English grammar. The student should be able to create simple dialogs using questions and answers, and polite requests in English for an introductory level. A secondary goal of this program is one of cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.
ESL (Level 2) 200 Hours (20 hours/week)
*Entrance Requirements: BEST PLUS oral score 55-72, BEST Literacy score 8-35
For students who want to improve their basic understanding of English, Level 2 ESL will introduce more complex grammar, vocabulary, and phrases. Your teacher will take you and your class on trips, including trips to museums and to interesting social events.
ESL (Level 3) 200 Hours (20 hours/week)
*Entrance Requirements: BEST PLUS oral score 73- 84 BEST, Literacy score 36-46
ESL Level 3 represents your introduction to Intermediate English. In this course, you will continue to improve your vocabulary, as well as your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. After taking this class, you will be able to express yourself in day-to-day situations. Aside from exciting field trips, your teacher will show you movies and implement interesting group discussions.
ESL (Level 4) 200 Hours (20 hours/week)
*Entrance Requirements: BEST PLUS oral score 85-104, BEST Literacy score 47-53
Bluedata’s ESL Level 4 class operates in the upper intermediate level. In this class, you will learn increasingly complex grammatical structures as well as more complex and specialized vocabulary. Your teacher will bring you on educational field trips and incorporate interesting media into the class lessons.
ESL (Level 5) 200 Hours (20 hours/week)
*Entrance Requirements: BEST PLUS oral score 105- 119, BEST Literacy score 54- 65.
In ESL Level 5, critical thinking skills will be introduced. You will start practicing essay writing and looking deeper into current events and issues. Your grammar, vocabulary, and idiom skills will be sharpened. Your teacher will introduce to the class interesting and thought provoking discussions.
ESL (Level 6) 200 Hours (20 hours/week)
*Entrance Requirements: BEST PLUS score 120+, BEST Literacy score 66+,
*Exit Requirements: BEST PLUS score 138+, BEST Literacy score 74+.
ESL Level 6 is the most advanced class offered in written and verbal English. The goal of this course is to prepare students for competition in the mainstream upon completing their studies at Bluedata International Institute. Throughout this course students will learn to analyze current New York Times articles and National Public Radio commentaries. By the end of this course you should be able to discuss your views on global issues in English. Your teacher will also touch on other subjects, such as resume writing.
TOEFL Prep Course 200 Hours (20 hours/week)
*Entrance Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
BEST PLUS oral score 105- 119, BEST Literacy score 54- 65.
TOEFL is recognized throughout the world by major universities and businesses as a measure of English proficiency. A high TOEFL score is required by most U.S. colleges and universities for admission of international students. Emphasis is placed upon vocabulary, grammar, listening and reading comprehension. Upon successful completion of this course, the student achieves a comprehensive improvement in all aspects of his or her language skills and test-taking skills.
GMAT Prep Course 200 Hours (20 hours/week)
*Entrance Requirements: College Junior or Senior.
BEST PLUS score 120+, BEST Literacy score 66+.
The GMAT is an important requirement for many business schools in the US. This class will go over the GMAT test structure, as well as introduce test-taking tips and strategies. In addition, students will improve both their language and quantitative skills in a comprehensive manner, including grammar, reading, vocabulary, writing and mathematics.
GRE Prep Course 200 Hours (20 hours/week)
*Entrance Requirements: College Junior or Senior
BEST PLUS score 120+, BEST Literacy score 66+
For students looking to attend a graduate school in the US, the GRE is a must. This class will introduce students to the outline of the GRE, as well as the types of questions that students will find on the GRE. Your teacher will practice with you a wide variety of problems and questions.
