Critical Thinking
COURSE HOURS, PREREQUISITES & DESCRIPTIONS
Prerequisites: ESL Level 4
Critical Thinking (Intermediate) 180 Hours
By engaging with meaningful materials such as Ted Talks, documentaries, and podcasts in Critical Thinking Intermediate, students will build up their stamina to listen to a variety of presentations, condense information to take adequate notes, grasp main ideas while reading and make presentations with an introduction, body and conclusion. Furthermore, students will organize information into graphic organizers and pay attention to the pronunciation of specific sounds.
Prerequisites: ESL Level 5
Critical Thinking (High Intermediate) 180 Hours
By engaging with meaningful materials such as Ted Talks, documentaries, and podcasts in Critical Thinking High-Intermediate, students will be able to increase their stamina to listen to longer varieties of presentations, listen for signal words and phrases, watch for details while reading and make engaging presentations by showing enthusiasm and using repetition and rephrasing for the topic at hand. What’s more, students will organize notes into T-charts and Venn Diagrams and understand the rhythm and stress of specific sounds.
Prerequisites: ESL Level 6
Critical Thinking (Advanced) 180 Hours
By engaging with meaningful materials such as Ted Talks, documentaries, and podcasts in Critical Thinking Advanced, students will be able to listen to longer varieties of presentations with ease, and pinpoint multiple viewpoints and distinguish facts from opinions. Moreover, they will be able to understand the speaker’s purpose and draw conclusions when reading, and connect with the audience and support their messages with a story, gestures and a sense of humor when making presentations. Additionally, students can note who says what and determine causes and effects. Lastly, students will master the correct intonation to express meaning.
