COURSE HOURS, PREREQUISITES & DESCRIPTIONS
ESL Class Level 1 (Beginner) 200 Hours 10 weeks/term 20 hours/week
In ESL School students will have basic knowledge of English language and structures as well as be able to use them in a limited way for day-to-day and personal purposes.
ESL Class Level 2 (Beginner) 200 Hours 10 weeks/term 20 hours/week
Students will have advanced understandings of English language and structures in ESL school, such as sound systems and grammatical structures and also will be able produce some limited oral expressions, study english and short written texts for their immediate contexts and personal purposes.
ESL Class Level 3 (Intermediate) 200 Hours 10 weeks/term 20 hours/week
Students will have knowledge of English language and structures in ESL school, and also will be able to apply them for personal and professional purposes with some accuracy.
ESL Class Level 4 (Intermediate) 200 Hours 10 weeks/term 20 hours/week
Students will have in-depth knowledge of English language sound features, such as stress and intonation patterns; and also will be able to engage in discourses on varied contexts and to create written texts for academic and professional purposes.
Critical Thinking (Intermediate) 180 Hours *Prerequisites: ESL Level 4
By engaging with meaningful materials such as Ted Talks, documentaries, and podcasts in Critical Thinking Intermediate, students will build up their stamina to listen to a variety of presentations, condense information to take adequate notes, grasp main ideas while reading and make presentations with an introduction, body and conclusion. Furthermore, students will organize information into graphic organizers and pay attention to the pronunciation of specific sounds.
ESL Class Level 5 (Advanced) 200 Hours 10 weeks/term 20 hours/week
Students will be able to apply complex features of English in oral and written forms from a wide variety of texts and for various purposes with accuracy and appropriator.
Critical Thinking (High Intermediate) 180 Hours *Prerequisites: ESL Level 5
By engaging with meaningful materials such as Ted Talks, documentaries, and podcasts in Critical Thinking High-Intermediate, students will be able to increase their stamina to listen to longer varieties of presentations, listen for signal words and phrases, watch for details while reading and make engaging presentations by showing enthusiasm and using repetition and rephrasing for the topic at hand. What’s more, students will organize notes into T-charts and Venn Diagrams and understand the rhythm and stress of specific sounds.
ESL Class Level 6 (Advanced) 200 Hours 10 weeks/term 20 hours/week
Students will be able to apply critical and problem-solving skills for analyzing, interpreting, evaluating, and creating a wide variety of written texts on global issues and also will be able to use English with accuracy, fluency and consistency for academic and professional purposes.
Critical Thinking (Advanced) 180 Hours *Prerequisites: ESL Level 6
By engaging with meaningful materials such as Ted Talks, documentaries, and podcasts in Critical Thinking Advanced, students will be able to listen to longer varieties of presentations with ease, and pinpoint multiple viewpoints and distinguish facts from opinions. Moreover, they will be able to understand the speaker’s purpose and draw conclusions when reading, and connect with the audience and support their messages with a story, gestures and a sense of humor when making presentations. Additionally, students can note who says what and determine causes and effects. Lastly, students will master the correct intonation to express meaning.
